Arts, Wellness & Inclusion

On a mission to make arts and wellness accessible to everyone

Hello!

I’m Rachel and I’ve worked in the arts for 20 years. I’m an established Arts Communications and Engagement Consultant, Programmer, Project Manager, Creative Producer, Inclusion and Access Consultant, Bid Writer, and Artistic Director of PWSH. I have worked with many innovative and diverse arts organisations, projects, and artists and I have now been freelance for 12 years.

In 2022 I began an MA in Arts Practice: Arts Health and Wellbeing. I am now also an emerging Arts Practitioner (working within Arts, Wellness, and Inclusion), Artist, Access Support Worker, and Curator.

I will be completing my Masters in April 2024, and after a rest, I’m gagging to get back to work.

I am neurodivergent - I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2023, I have anxiety and other invisible impairments and I am on a mission to make the invisible, visible. I am am intersectional feminist driven by inclusion, community, and change.

Passionate about engaging marginalised people who have historically been excluded from arts and wellness, I believe being involved in the arts and creativity can have a hugely positive impact on our individual and collective health and wellbeing, on communities, and on wider social change.

This website is a place for you to find out more about my lived and professional experience.

Services - I’m a polymathic practitioner (variety is the spice…)

Previous Work

  • Deaf Together

In 2023 I was Project Manager for DEAF TOGETHER, a new Deaf-led gathering that’s open to everyone! Part of Hear We Are, a two-year Deaf-led project with Jonny Cotsen and Chapter to create Deaf Together which was three days of Deaf-led events, activities and performances at Chapter, Cardiff.

  • Ladies of Rage

I have been on the Ladies of Rage Steering Group since 2020; a network of women and non-binary people working within black and under-represented music in Cardiff and beyond.

Testimonials

Rachel was crucial in supporting me in thinking about the importance of inclusion, wellbeing, and creating safe spaces which is one of the reasons why Deaf Together was so successful - the majority of events sold out, and the feedback suggests people want it to be an annual event.

Working with Rachel I always know that I will be safe and listened to and also that the pay will be fair. With Rachel’s supervision (Festival of Voice 2018 and Ladies of Rage Connect + Flourish Project 2022) I managed to realise a lot of my goals and dreams in arts and inclusion whilst making impactful projects happen and still have time to myself when needed. Rachel had confidence in my ability and a deeper understanding of how my neurodivergent brain works.

“I worked with Rachel on PWSH Summer 2023, and it was a fantastic experience! I was so excited to be asked to be a part of the project, and I felt incredibly supported by Rachel the entire time. When challenges arose she didn’t hesitate to help find a solution that worked for everyone and made me feel like I was a valued part of the project. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again!”
